Let God Restore Your Broken Heart

Healing from a broken heart is not always a simple fix; it is a process. In life, we all may experience brokenness because of sin, persecution, a rumor, gossip, abandonment, rejection, a loss, sickness, divorce, betrayal, or from other traumatic situations. No one wants to experience pain; however, if you’re in that season of brokenness, it’s an opportunity for you to allow Jesus to heal your heart.

Although we know Jesus is our Savior and Healer, sometimes having peace and comfort about our pain is difficult. We try to use other means to medicate and fix the pain, but until we give our hearts to The Lord, we will continue to revisit and dwell on those painful times.

When we’re focused on the brokenness or when we have a hard time moving on, it can cause anxiety, guilt, shame, and depression.

The enemy will use these weak moments as a target to attack your mind and heart. He will do all he can to trap us and influence us to believe that we cannot overcome; however, that is a lie. Let me remind you that your broken heart can be mended and restored by Jesus. He has not and will not forsake us. His love is unconditional. He is faithful. Amid the hurt and pain, God is making your situation better for his glory. I am a witness! I’ve experienced a lot of hurt. I cried until I couldn’t cry anymore, but God carried me through and healed the pain. God’s Holy Spirit gave me comfort and peace.

Remember the following and meditate on the scriptures:

1. The LORD will heal your broken heart.

  • Psalm 107:20 KJV - He sent his word, and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

  • Psalm 6:2 KJV – Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are vexed.

  • Psalm 147:3 ESV – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

  • Psalm 51:17 ICB - The sacrifice God wants is a willing spirit. God, you will not reject a heart that is broken and sorry for its sin.

2. Don’t stop praying.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV - Pray without ceasing

  • Philippians 1:14 ICB - And I always pray for all of you

3. Trust God.

  • Psalm 62:8 KJV - Trust in him at all times; ye people, Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

  • Psalm 7:1 KJV - O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: Save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.

  • Psalm 25:2 KJV - O my God, I trust in thee: Let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3. Sing Praises.

  • Psalms 13: 5-6 - KJV -But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

  • Psalms 9:1-2 NKJV – I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name O Most High.

  • Psalm 7:17 KJV - I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: And will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

4. Be patient.

  • Psalm 27:14 KJV - Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

  • James 1:4 KJV - But let patience have her perfect work, that he may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

  • Psalm 37:7 KJV - Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him

5. Make sure you protect your heart.

  • Proverbs 4:23 KJV - “Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.”

  • John 14:1 KJV - “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

  • 1 Kings 8:61 KJV - “Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.”

  • Matthew 6:21 KJV - “for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

In conclusion, a broken heart is not a good feeling but know that you can be healed from the situation you are going through. The Bible is filled with scriptures that will give you comfort. Read the Word of God, focus on Jesus, depend on the Holy Spirit. He does love you and He does want to help you. Feel the Lord’s presence and know that God will mend your broken heart.
